I'd like to take a little poll:

How many of you have been rear-ended?

If so, how often?

Was the other driver insured?

Thank you for your time.

Taxi Driver who couldn't speak a coherent sentence of english. Motorcycle cop afraid of his own shadow, wouldn't even write up a report.

Yeah, empathy here.

Though, in one other incident my brother rear-ended two cars for rubber-necking an accident. He can be quite a sometimes.

True story: once I was going down a one-way street in-town and some asshole of a bitch backed out of her driveway at 25 miles per hour and tapped my front bumper when I stopped to let her out (knowing that she would not stop). Her explanation? "Say, did you just come out of a driveway or something?"

My response: "Learn to drive you stupid whore." (yes, actually said that)

MORAL--If you're four foot five, you cannot drive a vehicle that puts you at least five feet off the ground. For crying out loud.

I can sympathize. If she had hurt my car, her steering wheel would be around her neck faster than she could scream for pity.

I got rear ending during my very first driving lesson. The guy was drunk and handed me 2 100 dollar bills and drove off.

A few years ago, I was making a left turn when I got rear-ended by a van with a trailer making a right turn. I had turned into the left lane when it happened. The collision knocked out a brake light and left a large dent on the right side towards the back.

I had insurance, the other driver didn't have proof of insurance with him at the time. He provided it just when it looked like the matter would be taken to court.

I got hit stopped in the middle of a street. Some old bag was thinking about whether or not to turn left, and I was about fifty metres from the intersection. Some guy smashed me from behind at about 50 km/h, but to his credit the sun was right in front of us, so he may have been blinded. He was pretty good about it, and he admitted he wasn't paying attention. I got rammed so hard that the old bitch had gotten tapped (I use that word because that is what happened, tapped), and was complaining that she might have hurt her neck. I got hit full force and I didn't have any neck pains.

Anyway, total cost to fix the truck was about $100, so the insurance covered the whole thing.

Light rear ending when Munkey was 8 and Toadfish was 3. Taking the (then) husband down to the train station about 6.30 am in the morning.

Came round the corner from the station after dropping him off...sitting at the traffic lights (RED)...then...BAAAM! Guy in some beat-up car comes BARRELLING round from the station and hits me. Kids start crying...I get out.

There, facing me is this spaced-out looking dude...uncombed hair...bare-feet in a pair of stubbies and bare-chested...WITH NIPPLE RINGS! He said "Doh, so sorry, it's not even my car, it's my mates".

I was sooo mad, all I wanted to do was yank his nipple rings out with extreme force and call him unspeakable names. Instead, I checked the bumper bar...no real damage...and said, "JUST GO!"

Jeeesh, some people!

I still can't drive. People should be born with this ability.

I disagree. Driving babies would scare me. And the cat.

Driving babies IS pretty scary...not enough room to put the seats or change gears! So, you take your cat on drives, do you FJ?

No, I'm sure FJ just lets him play in traffic.

Britt is correct. On an unrelated note...

I finally got an Ohio drivers liscence! After 3 months of driving illegally, I went in, took the test (written and driving) and passed! Whoo! But the cat failed. Nearly incosolable, it was.

I don't have a proper licence yet (Test in September)

But I do have a Canadian Learner's, and an English Provisional.

Should I try and get an American one this summer, or do I have to be a resident?

I'm not sure. It varies from state to state. I'm pretty sure some offer some kind of permit.

I hear they're having a two-for-one deal here in Oregon. Or, maybe it just seems like it.
