There are few things in this world that have the ability to drive me batshit crazy like tuneless humming.

On a daily basis, from many different sources, this tuneless humming is inflicted upon me. Not only tuneless, most times it is also off-key. OFF-KEY TUNELESS HUMMING!!

Sadder still, and even more infuriating, are those individuals who, while listening to an actual song, have the ability to tunelessly hum along to it...off-key. Hard to believe? Definitely. But this happens. It happens EVERY DAY!!!!!!!! GAWD DAMMIT!!!

IS THERE SOME MACABRE JOY OBTAINED BY HUMMING TUNELESSLY?

DO THESE PEOPLE NOT REALIZE THAT THEY ARE OFF-KEY??

HOW LONG CAN I ABSTAIN FROM THROTTLING THE NEXT TUNELESS HUMMER???????

The answer to these, and other probing questions, next time..here...in the Twilight Zone (a.k.a. the Britt Kat Klub).

I think humming is the verbal equal of biting your nails: dirty and kinda sick.

Throttle them, Britt...throttle! (Then you can hear them gargle off-tune just before they kick the bucket!)

You think that's bad? My brother hums while he eats cereal. Just cereal, nothing else. It's pretty sad, because he's in his early twenties now and still does it.

There is someone in our office who hums while they eat, too. It's a sickness, surely.

I just went to a bookstore in town and was subjected to something that I think was actually worse than tuneless humming. The woman who ran the store was attempting to whistle but she couldn't whistle. It just sounded like she was blowing into a flute that wasn't there or something and she did it the whole time I was in the store. I was tempted to leave but I had to spend my 20 dollar credit. It was driving me ape shit!!!!
