I voted this morning. That's right, we're using mail-in ballots this year and I get to vote early! If you're American, and don't plan to vote...step right up and allow me to smack you around a bit. |
|
ickleSlayer Monkey |
Just out of being nosy, who'd ja vote for? |
|
FatJohnny ZooKeeper |
I didn't get my absentee ballot info in on time, I can't vote. ![]() I can only blame myself... |
|
Rockjock Monkey |
Canada is voting on November 27th. I have to get my absentee stuff together too. Pffft, I know who Britt voted for. |
|
Lord Destroyer Monkey |
I'm waiting until November 7 to cast my vote, and I'm voting in person. RJ - I think I know who Britt voted for as well. |
|
Britt ZooKeeper |
Who do you guys think I voted for, anyway? |
|
exile_11 Monkey |
Ralph Nader. |
|
Rockjock Monkey |
No, Algorithm. "Greetings, humanoid. Elect me executive processing unit." |
|
Britt ZooKeeper |
*ding* *ding* *ding* RJ is the winner! |
|
Rockjock Monkey |
Weel duh. I knew you hated Bush, and I thought you were a bit smarter than to vote Nader. Remember, a vote for Nader is a vote for Bush![/leftist pundit] |
|
exile_11 Monkey |
If a vote for Nader is a vote for Bush, how come the Gore and Nader camps are swapping votes in key districts in an effort to get Nader the 5% of the vote he needs to be taken seriously and to get Gore across the line. |
|
Rockjock Monkey |
I don't pretend to understand American politics. I have no idea why. The media are saying that Nader is siphoning off votes from the left that might otherwise go to Gore. [This message has been edited by Rockjock (edited 11-02-2000).] |

I like watching the way their campains are being run; it's like one big party! |
|
Pez Monkey |
We voted in school....state wide. State Wide- Bush by 52 votes I can't stand some of the things Bush is going to do if president. |
|
Rockjock Monkey |
Looks like what every political expert predicted--Bush wins the popular vote, and Al Gore gets the electorals! What don't you like about Bush, Pez? I'm not so sure I like him myself, but Algorithm as prez... |
|
FatJohnny ZooKeeper |
Bush is a retard. I wouldn't trust him to look after a kindergarten class, let alone a nuclear arsenal. I've actually decided to drive to Pennsylvania on Tuesday to vote. After watching the Nader rally on C-Span yesterday, I'd truly regret it. Nader may not have a real chance to win, but like the slogan says, I've got to vote my concience. Remember, a vote for Nader is a vote for Nader! |
|
Rockjock Monkey |
They'd probably just give him a fake button anyways. |
|
Jonny Rocket KingPin of the Monkey Farm |
All I have to say is vote Nader, if you live in a state that is definitely going to go to Gore. Vote Gore if the state is going to Bush. Because we can't not afford a Bush presidency. That is my conscience. People will literailly have less rights if he is elected. The next president will be appointing up to three justice to the Supreme Court. If GW wins, we can kiss Roe V Wade good bye. |
|
Britt ZooKeeper |
Amen. |

Why vote for Nader? Conscience shmoncience. If either Bush or Gore are the lesser evil, vote for them. One more vote to someone who can't possibly get elected is one more vote that wasn't used to beat the worst candidate. You may as well not vote at all. The best part about American voters is you all think you matter. Think of ten people in a room, then think of a hundred, then a thousand in relation to yourself, then a million. You're barely grains of sand in a desert, freedom of speach can suck my mammoth cock, the majority of human beings are stupid people, and this means the intelligent people can't fix anything. So drink your cafe lattes and enjoy the view while one of the candidates takes your country for a lengthy painful ride into absurdity and international mockery, and do it with a smile. Frickin' Americanas. |

The voice of the people must be heard. If anyone should be placed in the presidency for the USA it should be the hairy Bush. All the democRATS can do is blind women in believing that, through their votes, they make a difference whether abortions will be legal in the next four years. It’s all bull shit. The people make the rules and it doesn’t matter who is in office. The truth is, if some one wants to kill a fetus their damn well going to do it. I say more power too them. Bush: Not a drug user, Not a fornicator, Has not been known to cheat on his wife. Did not go to Ethnic churches and tell them that God wants them to vote democRAT, Has not sat beside one of the worst presidents in history. Does not use “Rock The Vote” through MTV (one of the most one-sided televised programs). Where they pump ill-informed 18 year old kids full of false hope. Those same half-witted kids who voted for Clinton are now stuck making shit for money in the “cut back” military and having to life on government welfare. Babble, babble, babble, babble, babble, babble, babble, babble, babble, babble, babble, babble, babble, babble, babble, babble, babble, babble, babble, babble, babble, babble, babble, babble, babble, babble, babble, babble, babble, babble, babble, sheeewie Umm,………… anyway. I hate politicks. But its like opinions and assholes. Everyone has one. I guess the world wouldn’t be without it. |

One has to make their voice heard. I do not buy the line that "a vote for Nader is a vote for Bush". Truth is, most people who cast their vote for Nader would not have voted to begin with. But now they have a third choice. For some the logic ends there. But for others, he is a candidate who is straight forward, honest, and not spun to death like our other candidates. I support Nader and his ideas. So even if my voice is drowned out, at least I'm going to try and use it. As for Bush, yeah. Let's elect a man who ran two of his dad's companies into the ground. Tell me, how do you bankrupt an oil company in America?!?!?! And you want to trust this man with our nations economy? Plus, if he had a problem with alcohol, who is to say it won't return. The Presidancy is a stressful position. Plus he traded Sosa. What a fucknut. |

Well as another outsider i'm fecking outraged at Bush for his policies that will indirectly affect me. This man opposes the Kyoto agreements, bastard, here the govt. is getting ready to increse tax on fossil fuels, and closing fossil feul powerstations to meet our obligations under Kyoto...what good is it if only small countries like ireland take these things seriouly with only 3.7 million of us living here?? He doesn't want the US to intervine in conflicts anymore unless US national security is directly affected, so if some dictator kills millions hes not going to intervine unless they cut off the oil heading into the US or something????Bastard. And then theres the missile defense thing. Christ, wasn't there just a treaty banning such systems globally which the US singed up to??? Phew, thank you WWYK for letting me get this outta my system...sound. Just saw Bush lose Florida...hopefully hes fucked now. |

Whilst having no strong feelings for either of the candidates, a couple of observations about the whole process. 1. After news broke of Bush's drink driving charge, in 1976 for fuck sake, 15% of the voters felt that, this alone, meant he was not fit to lead the country. Personally, I have more problems with a presidential candidate who doesn't know how to smoke either a joint or a cigar properly. 2. Both canditates attend prayer meetings and contend that God is on their side. Like I'm sure God has got nothing better to do with his time than take sides in US presidential elections. There are some seriously fucked up people in the US. Present company excepted, of course. |

Jesus. Almost six in the morning here in the states, and we still don't know who the next president will be. Right now Gore has the lead, but Florida is still too close to call. And those electorial votes will swing the election. We actually may have a case where the candidate who gets the most popular votes (Gore) will lose due to the electorial college. Goddamnit. |

Darn tootin'. Whoever Florida's Secretary of State, or whatever is, should be beaten. The stories coming out of there about voting "mishaps" are ridiculous. |

FatJohnny ZooKeeper |
Still counting. Lawsuits may cause the entire state of Florida to have to vote all over agin. |
|
Pez Monkey |
Sad thing is, it's gonna be Bush. Most of the army is republican. |
|
FatJohnny ZooKeeper |
Well, they finished counting Florida, Bush by roughly 300 votes. They may recount by hand. It will be at least another week before all overseas ballots are in. Stupid Florida. |
