i did get a chance to see fellowship of the ring yesterday before life went to hell. it was cool, it did due a few odd things in comparison to the book, but i liked it and will see it again. |

Why did this thread fail? Well, because Slacker meant 'Lord of the Rings' instead of the current meaning of 'lotr,' which is "League of Tepid Relatives" which deals with old disabled relations with bad gastric problems.Just another lesson in the whys and hows of forum posting. Now for something complete different. Albotross! |

I haven't seen anything in the cinema recently even though there are a few good films on. I haven't seen Lord Of The Rings yet but I also haven't read the book so I don't imagine I'll be disappointed by the film as most people are after reading the story first.Hopefully I'll get to see it before it comes out on video...

I would just like to say that, regardless of how the book read, people still like to have a conclusion at the end of the movie. Great movie though. |

Just got back from seeing 'lotr'. It was a late viewing that finished at 2.30am. I haven't read the book, and I was kinda glad that I hadn't got a clue because at least I had no idea what was going to happen.Although tiredness and backache kicked in towards the end of the film I have to say it was bloody brilliant. I felt I got my £5 worth for once. The special effects were damn good and so were the fight scenes. But what happened to the end of it? Couldn't they afford to finish it? I'm joking for fucks sake! |

Go see The Royal TenenbaumsThat is...if you like Rushmore. Of course, neither movie has anything to do with LOTR, and frankly, for some reason I actually felt more involved in Harry Potter than in that movie. Plus, its too bad that everyone and their mother who have ever decided to make fantasy movies and stories have used Tolkien's definition of "Orcs" or "Elves" or "Dwarves" or anything that he originally thought of (which of course, was actually somewhat inspired by Greek mythology and older fantasy characterizations), so now that the movie following the book has finally come out, it all just seems so cliche' and boring. Oh well. Go see The Royal Tenenbaums, if you like subtle humor and understatement. |
