quote: AUSTRALIA--Many people were shocked and horrified today when a supposed comet turned out to be the famous space station Mir falling to Earth."I was horrified, but not surprised." Tristar Satellite X-19 told reporters. "I knew Mir was a bit troubled. It seemed like whatever anyone did, it wasn't right. But I know Mir didn't deserve to die like this. But I don't think it was suicide...those Russians have itchy trigger fingers if you ask me. They're not very user-friendly." Mir's own father, Skylab, perished tragically in a grisly accident that left his remains all over Australia in 1979. Mir was survived by no relatives, but many friends that include most of the DirectTV Network. Mir: 1976-2001.

I don't know what the news items said about Mir's crashing to Earth over there, but here in Oz, they kept saying that they were not exactly sure where (or when) Mir would hit the ground (so to speak - it actually hit the ocean!). However, after it had actually crashed to Earth, they said it had landed "on target".Yeah ... like, wow! Then there were the people in New Zealand who said they should "stay indoors" just in case. As if that was going to stop 25 tons of surviving bits and pieces! Some people! |

I'm sorry for you, Bluebottle. It seems like your part of the world always gets the shit from space, doesn't it? I think Oz should make a "No more shit from space" campaign or something. Let it fall on Russia. It's not like they don't have enough vacant space. And KK, I found this item in the gray folds of my mind. |

If you could package and sell brains, I'd be beating you to death right now most likely |

They tell you to stay indoors because Mir would have been ripped apart in the atmosphere, and it's more likely that a smaller chunk of debris would hit you than the entire station fall on your head. That thing had enough trouble maintaining integrity on its own.Meanwhile, do the Americans get their free taco? |

Afraid not, RJ. Missed by quite a distance...considering the 'target' was in Oklahoma. |

Give me enough tape and I could have fixed MIR |

Yeah, but eventually you would call it "Pez 1" and the US would have nuked it...besides, I think you can design a better one. |

I don't know, but I do know that the Spork-o-Doom is back in it's holster, no matter what Iridium says. |

Meanwhile, allow me to provide the voice of reason.Mir landed about 5000 kilometres (3000 miles) from Australia. I think you'll find it landed a lot closer to the Taco Bell target than to this fair land. |

Pez,Irid leant me the Spork when I was battling Shadkar. However, Shad stole it (I stole it back from her and gave it back to Irid, who then put it back in it's holster) and started whining about something stupid when I pulled out my TARDIZ. Pfffft...Shad is a whiner. And Exile...it did? But no free tacos..a miss is as good as a mile, I guess. |

I actually suggested that they should have programmed Mir with the coordinates for our Parliament House in Canberra. Someone else then pointed out that that would have ensured that Canberra was safe! |

I asked that they aim for quebec. They missed. or maybe they are just waiting for something bigger to hit it.

I actually found a person (now a friend) who is a Quebecian, so they're not all bad. Barely a French accent, too. She's quite nice and likes Lexx! |

Nick, of course you'd like her. So that's where my spork o' doom went. I was looking for it, but only found the spork o' insanity. Go fig.
