Probably not, but I heard on alt.tv.avengers that someone *might* have found one of the missing Avengers episode that come from Season One, an episode called "Girl on the Trapeze."What makes this so special is that unlike the rest of the BBC stories missing at this period, the first season of the Avengers was filmed and broadcasted live, making any tapes of them very hard to come by (mind you, this was 1961). Of course, this could very possibly be a hoax: "Girl on a Trapeze" is one of the only two Avengers episodes ever made that does not feature Patrick Macnee in any capacity but instead features the only male sidekick in the history of the show. So, it might all be bullocks, but least you guys should know. If this was found, then it would be the second episode of Season One in existence to this date, the first being "The Frighteners."

And it appears it's true! The listing for this episode can been seen in UCLA's online catalog: http://orion2staff.library.ucla.edu/web2/tramp2.exe/see_record/A16if5i0.013?server=5ucla&item=4&item_source=5ucla It should work....I've already sent out lines to various contacts to see if this is true. |

And I've just got word that the British Film Institute is in the process of buying this episode. So, another lost episode found!! Quite exciting...I wonder if any more of Britain's missing TV shows will show up...I wonder... |

I do care, actually...The Avengers used to be one of my favourite programs when I was a kid. Think that is where I got my British fixation from (damn Steed and his bowler hat and brolly!) |

I used to like the Avengers too. It's probably very dated now, but still has a charm about it.Just think about all those other missing programmes from the Beeeb that may be still lurking out there in someones attic. |

Don't worry, Bluebottle. The BBC is still looking...in fact, many Who fans are claiming that Zambia might have a few Doc Who episodes in their vaults. And Lotus has a British fixation? I wouldn't have guessed. |

Whats even stranger, is that i was speaking to Lotty the other day, and she is losing the Aussie accent!!!! One thing i have to say about the Avengers is that the film certainly didn't do the series any favours, which i would have prefered to have watched an hour and a half of, and not of the two unfortunate wannabies. |

Lotus is losing her accent! She'd better record a .wav file for me before she loses it completely! We can call it "Lo--Before and After!" And I agree with you, Mags. Besides Eddie Izzard, the movie itself was bad to the point of near-comedy. The only thing it successfully did was make me want to get the episodes on tape. Now that is a gooood thing. |
