I wouldn't know much about Pong - I didn't get into video games until Pac-Man was popular in the arcades. But still...funny stuff, Lotus! [This message has been edited by Lord Destroyer (edited 01-14-2002).] |

That was actually regarded as major technology back in the day LD, the system i had came with a rifle so i could do target practice. Word of advice, never put the rifle together in front of the neighbours, it freaks them out. [This message has been edited by Magpye (edited 01-14-2002).] |

Time sure changes a lot of things now.Video games these days cost a lot to play (it costs me a dollar to play Dance Dance Revolution at the arcade), and some games don't even have the fun factor or challenge of classics like Pac-Man and Pong. What Lotus means, Mags, is how am I doing at that game that's known as Dance Dance Revolution. It's in arcades just about everywhere, and there's a version on the Sony Playstation which me and LF have. The game is as follows: You stand on a pad with four arrows on it (up, down, left, and right). On the screen, there is a row of arrows towards the top. Arrows drift up from the bottom, and you step on the corresponding arrow on the pad when the arrows meet. You are scored according to how precisely you step. How precisely you step is reflected in a meter at the top of the screen. It fills and eventually flashes white (like a strobe light) if you do a step very precisely, or it empties and eventually glows red if you miss a step. If the meter is glowing red and it's empty, it's game over when the song is over. You can do 3 songs maximum per game and can't choose the same song twice. It resembles dancing to some extent, and it makes my legs and feet hurt like all get-out. The game is more like recreational dancing, and doesn't require tights to play. BTW, check your e-mail, Lotus. I sent another e-mail your way - I hope it got through. How I'm doing on DDR is in the message I sent. I must admit that I've never seen this game being played, but it sounds to me as though it would make you look like a giraffe having a spastic fit. I hearby file for a name change to Spastic Giraffe Revolution. Ish - At first, I thought I would look like an idiot, but that was before I got some experience under the belt.Mags - Nah, haven't played it drunk, nor do I intend to. It's a game that requires a lot of coordination and being drunk would guarantee failure on the easiest tracks. I have a long ways to go before I even look like those show-offs at the arcade - they're the ones who are more like spastic giraffes if you ask me. Those show-offs do well on the toughest routines while I'm trying to handle the medium routines. The routines are ranked by number of feet shown on the screen (arcade version). I don't know all the rankings, but I know the toughest has to be 9 feet. I'll edit when I know for sure. 1 - Simple (too easy for me) 2 - 3 - Ordinary (I do all right with this, but it's a challenge) 4 - Superior (Still a challenge for me) 5 - Genuine 6 - 7 - 8 - Exorbitant (just about all of those show-offs do this just to warm up) 9 - Catastrophic (only for the best of the best, and I'm far from ready for it) How do they show off, you ask? Easy. Here's how: 1. They jump off the pads in the middle of the song, run around and then vault over the bar in the back and land back on the pad without missing a step - a guaranteed eye-roller. 2. With their feet anchored at the left and right buttons, they bend forwards or backwards and hit the up and down buttons with their hands. Again, 3. One time, I saw someone using one foot to hit the left button (it was a string of left arrows) and he spun around while hopping on one foot. Yeesh. When I play, I play for fun, not to show off for others. [This message has been edited by Lord Destroyer (edited 01-15-2002).] |

All sounds a lot like exercise to me.Couldn't you either take dancing lessons, therefore learning an actual skill, or just do some proper exercise, such as fluid intake arm extensions (beer drinking)? ------------------ My middle name could be danger......but it's john [This message has been edited by Ishtar (edited 01-15-2002).] |

Ummm....Actually it's like this (with my comments )... 1 - Simple (IYFTYS [If You Fail This You Suck] or IYFTSFBOUYGIR [If You Fail This, Spend Fifty Bucks Or Until You Get It Right]) 2 - Moderate (Candyarse) 3 - Ordinary (Beginner) 4 - Superior (Fair) (LD's Level of Skill) 5 - Marvelous (Good) 6 - Genuine (Impressive) (My Level of Skill and Gaining) 7 - Paramount (Incredible) 8 - Exorbitant (Excellent) 9 - Catastrophic (Godly) [This message has been edited by Lord Finisher (edited 01-21-2002).] |

That sounds suspiciously like a double dare to me, and I will respond in similar playground fashionMy Dad's bigger than yours, you see my point *does up his fly sono-one can see his point* I hate it when that happens. I might just be tempted to give it a go should I see it out and about, then again I might just leave it and go to a club where I jump around like a spastic giraffe anyway. ------------------ My middle name could be danger......but it's john |

At least give it a try, Ish. You might be amazed. I wouldn't consider myself King Spastic Giraffe until I take on the hardest tracks on the highest possible difficulty and score a double-S (the equivalent on the Playstation version would be a triple-A) on each of them. It will be an extremely long time before that happens, I'm afraid. |

Nah. Pathetic would be a certain corn chip concocting up two more ultra-lame aliases because he doesn't have the balls to face anyone. And in the arcade, I usually go one-on-one. It makes no difference if the other person is better or worse than me. [This message has been edited by Lord Destroyer (edited 01-21-2002).] |
