If you could be any weapon from any first-person shooter game (Quakes 1-3, Half-Life, Doom, etc), what would you be?

Me? Super-Shotgun from Quake II.

TFC - Hmmm, hard to say really, depends on which class u are. Nail / Super nail gun and the Super shotgun.

HL - The ..er.. machine gun u nick from the dead army guys

Op Force (HL addon) - Same

Q2 - Rail Gun

Q3 - Rail Gun / Quad Rocket

CS - Mp5

UT - Redeemer.

Overall - D5k Deutsche from Goldeneye on the N64

I'd have a hard time deciding, so I'll go with my favorites from games I've played.

Doom 2 - Double-barreled shotgun

Duke Nukem 3D - I'm torn between the RPG (rocket-propelled grenade) launcher, the ripper chaingun, and the shrink ray.

Quake - The thunderbolt comes to mind, but then again, I like the super nailgun.

Shadow Warrior - How I love to slice my enemies in half with the sword - but if I'm going for long range stuff, I'll go with the rail gun.

Hexen - Any of the super weapons (cleric has Wraithverge, fighter has Quietus, and the mage has Bloodscourge).

Goldeneye 64 - The RC-P90 is what I like...large ammo magazine, rapid fire. The Golden Gun would really kick ass if I didn't have to reload after each shot.

ooooh yes. i was torn between the D5k and the RC-P90. But chose the D5k bcos the RC-P90 looks and sounds like a small hoover. Like those Dust buster things ages ago

fires 80 rounds in like 10 secs. Ooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo

So none of you can see the subtle beauty and stopping power of the Super-Shotgun?

Wanna bet? The RC-P90 would turn you into a flaccid sack of lead before you could unload a pair of shells in my direction.

But then again, that's only if we're looking at each other on level ground. It's an entirely different story if, for example, you're hiding somewhere, being like a sniper and I'm trying to find out where the hell you are. So, it boils down to the skill of the player and what weapons they have.

Back in the day of Quake II, I'd go into a server and in seconds get blasted by some professional sniper wielding a rail gun.

So, yeah, I'd have to go with the rail gun there.

The super-shot gun is a close range weapon only. So in close battle i'd go for it. Unless i had a rocket launcher.

Washie...you're the resident weapons master of this forum! Tell me, it IS the rail gun that the Heavy Weapons Guy uses in "TFC", isn't it?

If so...then that is my favourite weapon in that particular game. (Followed closely by the flamethrower...I always was a bit of a pyromaniac...hahaha)

Nope, Lotty, the gun the HWGuy has is a Chain gun/cannon. or as the manual calls it the 'Assault Cannon' (supposidly ripped of the side of a Chopper)

There is a rail-gun in TFC ... BUT it's nothin like the one from Q2 / Q3. It's kinda crappy really and is quite an achievement when / if u get a kill with it.

HOWEVER the railgun in Q2 / Q3 is more of a Sniper riffle type thingy.

Actually, in Quake, there is a program you could use to create your own weapons. One of my friends created this Super-Ultra-Mega Shotgun which was basically a chaingun for shotgun shells. When you pressed the fire key, the whole screen nearly exploded and all 200 shells were GONE.

Yeah, there was this patch file I loaded into Doom 2 a long time ago. It turned the regular shotgun into a rapid-fire shotgun.

I liked it at first, but then it got annoying.

I saw a cheat demo last night (I HATE cheats)...it made the legs of the person invincible. So, about half of the person was a useless target!

It is hard enough sometimes without these sort of things in the game. Been a lot of talk about speed cheats lately allowing people to zip round the maps a lot faster too.

Things like aimbots and wall hacks. No fun when you are trying to learn the game and you get pounced on from all angles!

Yeah. When it comes to multiplayer games, those that resort to cheating are the lowest quality player - the real sore losers.

Washie - LF is my younger brother. Us, married? Yeah, right!

Lotus - It seems to me LF miscalculated on when the game would be going on. He told me 6 p.m. Eastern U.S. time was when it would happen. He told me last night when I got home from work.

Right now (I'm talking Eastern U.S. time here), LF is at school and won't be home until just before 3 p.m. Straight afterward, he has an orthodontist appointment - he's getting his braces off, or so I heard. I don't know about tomorrow or the day after - he has to go to work in the afternoon.

Not to worry, Washie.

That beats the time when I was in a bowling league (back when I was 14) and some people called me "Linda" because I was using my mom's old 14-pound bowling ball.

They stopped after I gave them a look that seemed to say, "One more wisecrack outta you, Bub, and this bowling ball goes down your throat".

Gypsy - In this thread, we're talking about what weapons from what first-person shooter games we like and the weapons we prefer.

It went on a little tangent when my brother (Lord Finisher on these boards) challenged Lotus to a game of Half-Life Counterstrike, but it fell through because he miscalculated the time for the game to take place.

Yeah, it could start from something else.

If I really get into those first-person shooters (or any genre of video games), I can blame it on the "Pac-Man Fever" I had when I was 5.

I've been a video game junkie since that first time I played Pac-Man.

There actually was a song here in the States on that same video game - called Pac-Man Fever by Jerry Buckner & Gary Garcia.

It's still a personal favorite of mine even after almost 20 years. I even know the words to it, down to the last syllable. If anyone's interested, I'll post it. Any takers?

I saw it performed on TV 2 or 3 times - wish I had a VCR back then. Either that or they air the episode of "American Bandstand" where that song was performed.

Anyway...I remember playing my first round of Pac-Man. I went to a roller skating place in San Diego with my mom and older sister (LF wasn't born yet and my dad was in the Navy, possibly out to sea at the time). I was taking a break from skating and sitting at the Pac-Man machine. Mom noticed and gave me a quarter. I played and the rest is history.
