Heard the news today. Pretty little "Cottesloe Beach" in Perth...SHARK ATTACK! Exile dear...how many times have I told you...stop wrestling with and "punching out" the sharks down there to prove how "macho" you are...it's a given! |

My sources actually tell me it was a Gypsy attack. Going for the butt, apparently, but missed and took the victim's leg.More seriously, though, I was surfing less than a couple of kilometers from that spot at 10.00am yesterday morning.....attack occured at 6.30am this morning. That is some scary shit. |

Lotus, Gypsy attack? Definitely. _________ I heard sharks dislike the color orange, so maybe you could paint your surfboard in orange. But you better check out with someone who knows a little more about sharks before actually doing something. TaCare Exile. |

I wonder if they dislike yellow. I figure pissing your pants when a shark approaches would only be natural.------------------ Le ET phone ze home! |

My Dad has a an ex-best friend who lived there and we were both hoping it was him. My Dad and this guy went into a partnership in this pub, this guy screwed him over big time and ran away leaving the police to take care of us. We so much hoped it was him who was attacked by the shark....when we found out it wasn't him, we were extremely disapointed..... |

Exile couldn't believe it , 3 weeks ago to the day we were all sitting there at the pub looking at the spot where the attack occurred and you were telling us how often you surf there , it gave us a real heart stopper till we finally got full details a couple of hrs later , been in since mate !!! ------------------ Gypsy...I'm a wanderer, yea, a wanderer...my hands roam around & round & round & round!!! |

Saik...said it before...say it again...seek help, my friend! CJ...disturbing in the extreme, I would say! Exile...good question. Have you been staying out of the water at Cottesloe? Guess you have been too busy to be surfing this week. Might be a good thing, too! RJ & Bell...I heard they like shaved legs and the colour red (less hairs to pick out of their teeth, and a nice bright colour to target!) So, you had better stop shaving your legs, I think! hehehe... *Tells Washie to take off the fin and stop being so "flakey"!* Phar, whatever gives you the idea that shark bites hurt, hmmmmmmmm? The trick is to bite them first before they bite you!

Was swimming at Cottesloe beach last Wednesday about lunch time , had been told that a shark net was in place off the beach since last years attack . While in the water we became aware of a plane coming down the coastline then shortly after it was meet by a surf patrol boat and they both headed out to sea (all this happened within about 200 metres of where we were in the water .) Heard on the news on our way home that a large hammer head shark had been tracked down the coast until a boat was put to sea to head if of and steer it away from the swimming beach . SCARY STUFF and it was my first time in the open surf in over six years .------------------ Gypsy...I'm a lover and a FIGHTER you hear !!! |

Was going to start a new topic but decided to revive the old one in the hope of flushing out that elusive co-moderator of yours , was a bit of a shock when I found out , luckily it was after I got out of the water , Was so good to have the salt water in my hair after so long , have managed to get a pretty good tan slowly not getting cooked , have also put on over half a stone so am looking a bit healthier guess the shark may have apprieiated that . ------------------ Gypsy...I'm a lover and a FIGHTER you hear !!! |

Nixxi you could hug a rotten tree and have it fall on you , actually more chance of being hit by a car than taken by a shark . ------------------ Gypsy...I'm a lover and a FIGHTER you hear !!! |

We have a beautiful man made beach not far from me & I usually go there , no seaweed or chance of stingers .It is salt water and right on the beach with a sandy bottom so just like being in the real thing .------------------ LIFE IS BUT A FLEETING MOMENT IN TIME , ENJOY WHILE YOU CAN [This message has been edited by Gypsy (edited 02-12-2002).] |
