Okay, it was a hot New England night last night and so inlue of actually moving I watched the Real World reunion Special. All I have to say is that I am never going to get that hour and half back. The worst bit was it was commerical free. Which in theory was good, but they kept on cutting away as if they were going to commerical, but no I had to see Puck's ugly dog. They focused in the lamest characters. They devoted to much airtime to the cop from the second cast and to Mami cast. They had a round table disscussion with the 'virgins' from the show. That is all I needed to watch the mo-mo, the hillbilly and Catholic disscuss not having sex. I say good for them, but did that really deserve air time, not really. MTV needs an new editor, big time. The quick ADD style of editing that MTV is so happy about deploying at every cornor is getting tired. Call me a film geek, but there is nothing wrong with a long take. They may also benfit from a linear style of setting up a program. I am done now, sorry about that. Does any one else think that John Norris from MTV news has Bad Breath?

Isn't there a clause in the 'Independent Music and Film Bowl-head's Club' membership contract that if you watch MTV they kick your skivvied ass to the curb? |

MTV has been unwatchable since they took Beavis and Butthead off. Heres a novel Idea shouldnt a station called Music Television play music? I say MTV should go back to the old days and play videos 24/7 with 5 "VJ's." That theory made the station a success, it worked then and I think it would work now. ------------------ Have you ever stopped to think...and forget to start again? Not to play Devil's Advocate, but MTV seems to be doing something right when they starting airing Jackass and Fear. Of course, that was the alpha and omega of their so called intelligence. As for the Real World....if anybody needed to be tortured for the enjoyment of the home audience, it's the assholes they get for that show. UGH. |

I saw the reunion too, and hearing Puck talk about all the different Real Worlds in his own words was hilarious. You could tell he was still an avid "fan" of the series, even if all he did was bitch about them.I never saw the middle Real Worlds (Seattle and Miami?) because during that time they were extra lame. I actually kind of liked the New Orleans crew - at least they were a little more interesting than that stupid alkie Ruthie and that show-off retard Tek. Even if the Mormon girl was so ho-baggish without actually being a whore (a tease). And yeah, the virgins were quite lame. But they probably did the most talking anyhow, so were easy to focus the camera on. |

Yeah. See, catapault is right. Beavis and Butthead is gone. Sifl and Olly is gone (I try to carry on the name and spread the word to others with my SN but I can only do so much). Sure, first and foremost, it's dumb for MUSIC TELEVISION to play virtually no music, let alone any sort of variety of music, but if they're going to be like that and do non-music, couldn't they at least air some high quality B&B and sock puppets? Noooo...instead they air TRL incessently until I want to kick Carson Daly in the face. ------------------ For those of ya'll that wear fanny packs! |

They showed a series of the real world over here and they got the most fantastic house to stay in. They had a library stocked full of books like Catcher in the rye and shit and they had computers. It was the prettiest house and they used it to house those bunch of pricks. |

Oh, my. It seems we have an infection...In regards to the "MTVsuckswhydon'ttheyplaymusic" arguement: If videos got ratings, they'd be playing them. Also, if nobody likes/watches MTV's programming, how do we all seem to know so much about it? |

FJ,I think the reason everyone knows about MTV's programming is that when it's good, it's good, but when it sucks it blows to high heaven. To the extent that it no longer becomes TV, it becomes parody at it's most crass level. Me? I like "Fear," "Jackass," and "Celebrity Deathmatch." Hell, I even watched "Real World" one weekend to try to be fair about the whole reality TV thing. I like "Jackass," it pretty much showcases the dangers of doing stupid things. Anybody ever see that one where Steve O tries to kiss a wild jellyfish and ends up having to dump his own urine on his face to neutralize the poison? Meanwhile, I miss Sifl and Olly. But it eases the pain to listen to "United States of Whatever" on MP3. |

I am going to argue with Nick. MTV has had some great shows in the past, the State, Daria, The John Stewart Show. I will also admit that I have logged in more Real World time then I would care to admit. |

Andy Dick is funny, but he's still too damn strange sometimes...and what is his obsession with that damn "Shirts and Skins" movie?? For crying out loud...And out of curiosity, I did watch five minutes of Real World on Monday and finally confirmed a suspicion of mine: the bitchest person in the house is always a black woman. It never fails! What kind of weirdass racism is that?? |

Andy Dick is an odd little troll, but a damn funny one. And when it comes down to it, funny is funny. So more power to them.I want really ugly people on the 'Real World'. I think it would make for great programming. The ugliest people (inside and out) forced to reside together. It would be like a train wreck, god awful but so hard to look away... |

Whenever I think of Andy Dick I think of when Chris Katan played Andy Dick on SNL. He covering his mouth and saying things like 'Ohmigod, why am I talking' and 'I am so Coked up and Gay.' Chris Katan is a funny little man. Okay, I am a creature of habit. Tuesday night was buffy night. I would do laudry, drink beer and watch buffy with some friends. Now, Tuesday still happen and I still have laundry to be done and the beer still needs to be drunk. I guess what I am getting at is that dispite my better judgement, I watched the Real World Casting Special last night. I am ashamed. But the little virgin girl is real cute. Okay, to rival Rocket's sad moment:I'm at home yesterday night, getting ready to watch one of the sickest Jackass episodes I've ever seen, when I catch the last part of this special that (supposedly) determines who will actually get to appear on the Road Rules and/or Real World for next season. So, instead of running from the room in fear I watch and laugh as most of the people hug and say really shallow things/cliches to each other--like the immortal "This is sure to change my life." Then the camera cuts to this young black gentleman. He doesn't get chosen and actually sits down apart from the crowd and openly weeps as his sympathetic friend (a hot latina chick) who was chosen tries to comfort him. But, alas, he pushes her away with a bitchy "Go play with your newfound friends" and ends up sobbing like a little girl. What the fuck?? I mean, how big a fucking part can a contrieved and repetitive show play in one's life? I didn't know if I should laugh at this giant dork for taking this WAAAAY too seriously or wonder if this is what some people actually consider the Alpha and Omega of existence! How sad to you have to be to consider being filmed every single minute of the day, having your whole life (not just the parts you want to show, mind you) filmed to be critiqued by other hollow-headed assholes, then mocked openly just for the chance to live in some overly decked out house which would never be habitable due to the fact that it's out of the price range of most non-management people and 'designed' by some overpaid 'artistic' dorks. Plus, it only lasts a few months anyway which means that you still have the rest of your life to live after that! What is the point? *sigh* Needless to say, I laughed. Plus, the man was effeminate to the point of growing a vagina. Which probably made this idiot think he was a shoo-in for the show. Oi. |

If you had watched the whole thing (and yes, *shudder*, I did), you would also have seen him telling everyone he 'really wasn't gay' and then later proceed to do a very dramatic (and very serious) interpretation of a leaf falling to the ground (when all of the guys were competing jokingly in drag). That last part of him crying (he was talking to the Asian chick, wasn't he?!) made me laugh almost to the point of tears. Mr. Drama Queen, right there, and he swears he's not gay. What's funny is that the virgin girl is extremely virgin, whereas the Mormon girl from the New Orleans series was 'virginal' but used that as a source of empowerment. I worry about this new girl because she really is extremely a virgin (as in "What's a penis for?"), and that new Mike guy (with the Hyuk, hyuk! buck teeth) seems like a bit of a sexual predator (not to mention racially and otherwise ignorant). At least it'll be interesting to see him become a hated member of the crew. |
