Let's say that I disagree with some of this list: No Jam records No Stooges records Where is the First Modern Lovers Record Why are the Meat Puppets on the list? Devo and Minor threat should be Higher Why is rancid on the list and not Operation Ivy? I am happy about Wire and Gang of Four being in the top Ten. Also that Beat Happening is on the List at all. |

I am not a lover of so-called "Punk" music...but I do like The Clash & Devo...and don't mind some of Nirvana or Green Day. (You are right about Devo needing to be higher up the list, Rocket.) |

this list isn't that bad for the coporate magazine they are. Just imagine what rollingstones would have looked like. It probably would have had radiohead on it. Its good that there were no new pop punk bands like mxpx or any of that crap on there. |

Catapault I'm with you on that one. The first thing I noticed was No Dead MilkMen. I don't agree with Nirvana being a part of the list not to mention that they listed them above Black Flag, Dead Kennedys, and meat puppets. Christ, Black Flag was stomping the shit out of Kirt Cobrains parents long before Nirvana.Ah, what the hell!

Let's put it this way: if you can watch Rock n'Roll High School without flinching, then you should be saddened.Otherwise, your life will go on. |

These are 30 something’s who, while in high school, were afraid to be involved, or desperately tried to be a part of the head bangers MEof the late 80’. But that’s cool. We had fun without them. I miss the looks I would get from older people on the street. I don’t miss the bull shit from self-righteous high school teachers, or the god-fearing folks from Virginia.180 degrees Signed, 30 something middle management corporate asshole.

Half of the list (at least those bands I'm familiar with) would be hard pressed to be classified as punk. And where is that quintessential Aussie punk outfit, The Saints? |

Its not just a list of punk music bands but they have punk ethic as well. I think almost all of the bands are pretty much punk... except maybe nirvana... but bleach may have been kind of punk...recorded for 600 dollars... kind of in the same way modhuney is punk... even thought they were both later classified as grunge |

I think 'In Utero' was punk. If you read interviews, they made it in hopes of alienating a portion of their audience. Noe that's rather punk. |

The only reason that "In Utero' is a good album is because of Steve Albani; end of story. Last night I watched the VH1 25 years of punk. It started off really good. I mean who doesn't love Richard Hell and the New York Dolls? But it sucked towards the end. It went directly from DC hardcore to grunge. I am just stick of the grunge thing getting called the rebirth of punk. The only band (in my eyes) that was punk out of that scene was Nirvanna and maybe mudhoney. They spent five minutes talking about Pearl Jam and Alice in Chains. C'mon they are far far far from punk. The show barely meantion Husker Due and the Twin Cities scene. GRRRRDamn you VH1 |

Pearl Jam can barely be called rock anymore, either. Whomever told lead singer to channel his alter ego, a constantly annoying 12-year-old girl who doesn't know her father, into an album needs to be castrated then shot. |

Mosrite nailed it.As for the Dead Milkmen... If one of their albums were to appear on that list, which would it be and why? And where? My call: "Big Lizard In My Backyard" at number 47. Very funny album, that actually spoof a lot of the punk ethos, as well as the music style. Runner-up: "Meta-physical Graffiti" the album is just too damn funny not to mention. |

What am I talking about? As much as I love the Deadmilkmen and as proudly I wore my metapysical graffiti shirt in high school, it is not a travisty that they were not on the list. There are many many more albums that I would add to the list before any dead milkmen album. |

'Beezebubba' was good, but not the best. But I will always have a soft spot for 'Stuart'.As for the list, not the word "if". I think they are far more deserving than some other folks on this list. They represent a different side of the punk picture. |

And I also want to know why they limited themselves to one album per band? "Rocket To Russia" realy needs to be on there. As does "Repeater", by Fugazi. |
